RPSCRB + RPST

The aim of the course is to give seafarers who are compulsory to take care of a survival craft or a rescue boat in emergency situations, the essential education and training to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency necessities set out in the following:

STCW Table A-VI/2-1

Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch.

Operate a survival craft engine.

Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship.

Use locating devices, including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics.

Apply first aid to survivors.

The STCW requirement for refresher training at 5-yearly intervals must be met or adequate onboard evidence must be provided.

RPST

Seafarers who hold an existing personal survival techniques (PST) certificate are required to complete this updating training course to maintain expertise under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/1 & table A-VI/1-1).

The course is an organized combination of theory and practical application.

This course forms part of the compulsory basic safety training for staff. It deals with the activities to be taken by individuals to shield themselves in emergency situations and includes hands-on training in the use of life jackets and inflatable life rafts

The course is classroom based and covers these main areas:

  • Emergency Situations
  • Survival Crafts and Rescue Boats
  • Personal Life Saving Appliances
  • Survival at Sea
  • Emergency Radio Equipment
  • Helicopter Operations
  • Apply first aid to survivors

  • Reference STCW 2010 Training Circular No.6 of 2011 dated on 27.12.2011
  • Training towards Refresher Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat and Refresher PST Certification.
  • Certificate of proficiency for PSCRB with minimum 1 year sea service in last 5 years & valid Medical fitness certificate.
  • Certificate of proficiency for BST with minimum 1 year sea service in last 5 years.

  • Record of 12 months Sea Service in last 5 years.
  • Medical fitness Certificate (From DGS Approved Doctor)
